Come learn from master realist artist Casey Childs in his new personal studio where he will share his approach to portrait drawing and painting in this 5-day intensive workshop. We will begin with a portrait drawing workshop focusing on building a stronger foundation in traditional portraiture. Students will work from a live model to create a convincing, lifelike portrait in charcoal. Foundational skills learned while drawing the portrait will also be utilized while painting the portrait. The portrait in oil workshop will occur during the last three days of the week and will cover key concepts including construction of the head, light & shadow, shapes, values & edges, studio practices, and proper use of materials using oils. This workshop is open to artists of all skill levels interested in improving their ability in traditional charcoal drawing and oil painting.
